Birth of a legend

Two Birthday Fanarts!

RL ramble first ... sorry for going AWOL on the flist yet again! Nothing major is happening in RL, but there are lots of little things that have been adding up lately. I have a second project at work now. I'm taking two tango classes instead of one now. I'm taking a creative writing class, which is a lot of work--really fun work! but a lot of it, lol.

Not to mention random things like seeing the Sex and the City movie even though I never watched the series (I cried through like, the entire second half of it! I am so lame!) and going to this young alumni function where we got to gamble with monopoly money and the prizes consisted of things like martini glasses from last year's senior dinner and books on Geriatric Bioscience (wha??).

Anyway ... yes, my name is Christine, and I am an overscheduholic! XD And I'll be around trying to catch up whenever I can, lalalala ...

More importantly, though, today is June 4th, the day of awesome birthday mayhem! HAPPY BIRTHDAY to jen_in_japan  and starsandsea !!!!! This is kind of belated with the time zone differences, but I hope you both had wonderful days and that this year brings you all the happiness in the world. *hugs*

Note: For Jen, based off of her amazing fic Nightwing & Flamebird.
Note 2: Eep! You'll have to forgive me, Jen, but I didn't realize this had been drawn before. My spider (penguin?) sense kept tingling and going "There's no way someone didn't already draw this awesomeness!" but it wasn't until after I finished this that I finally Googled "nightwing flamebird illustration" and TA-DA! Found rai_daydreamer 's gorgeous rendition of the suits of armor. So, uh ... I hope you don't mind getting another version of them? o_O

Fanart: Pushing Aside All Doubts

HAPPY BIRTHDAY arch_schatten!!! May this year be your best one yet, and full of wonderful surprises. *huugs*

Back when I had just met you, I once mentioned that your "Things Left Unsaid" series had given me two fanart bunnies. One and a half years later, lol, I finally finished one of them. So here is my birthday offering to you, my dear ferret-clone-sister. :D

And as always, everyone feel free to ignore me, because who failed at the flist this week? *raises hand* >_< eep.

Fanart. *Old* fanart.

These are the rest of the pictures (mentioned when I posted my Trinity picture eons ago) that I did for quirky_circe last spring. They've been sitting in my gallery for a little over one year (why yes, I do suck at posting! lol), so if you've ever been bored enough to stalk my galleries (well, *I* stalk people's galleries at least =P) then you might've stumbled across them already. In that case, just ignore me. ^-^

Characters: Batgirl (Cassandra Cain), Batman, Black Canary, Catwoman, Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern (John Stewart), Oracle, Robin (Stephanie Brown), Superman, Wonder Woman
Rating: G
Warnings: None.
Disclaimer: DC owns 'em, I just mess with 'em.
Media: watercolor, pen, marker

Full sized pictures below the cut (although they're a little redundant, since they look exactly like the little versions just ... big. In other words, I didn't think to crop anything out of the teaser pic, so that really is all there is to see. ^-^)

Apologies for my behindness again, both with the flist ... and meme-age! (not that that's anything new :/) My excuse for posting this time was that I was sick of these guys loafing around my gallery without paying rent. It was time to kick them out. =P

Dude, when did this happen??

I was wandering around the interwebs trying to find "Apocalypse" somewhere so that I could watch the first half (I only got home for the second half! Dammit!), and I found ... shocking news! Well ... so okay, this is old news for anyone who pays more attention to Smallville than I do (i.e. the rest of SV fandom ;p), but it bowled me over, so please forgive me while I take a moment to go ":-O"

OMG Yay!

NY Comic Con 2008: Day One Squeeeeeeeeeeee

I couldn't find a transcript of this online, so I will first bring you what is probably a horrible, mangled paraphrase of an awesome response Neil Gaiman gave during his Q&A session (aspiring writers, take note!).

Question: When did you decide you wanted to be a writer?

Neil: I've always wanted to be a writer. I can't remember a time when I didn't want to be a writer. However, I used to think I could become a writer without actually writing. When I was 11 or so, I planned to become a writer by carrying a copy of Lord of the Rings with me at all times. That way, when I fell through an interdimensional rift into a world where everything thing was the same except that no one had written Lord of the Rings, I would be the only one who had it. I'd then get an adult to type it up for me (of course I wouldn't do it myself, that would be too much work), and I'd send it off to be published.

Then, when I was 13, I decided I would become a writer by kidnapping writers from all over the world, locking them up in a huge stone castle, and forcing them to work on a diabolical trilogy of my own devising.

Eventually, I realized that writing was easier than either of these two schemes.

So that was Day One. :) Yes, Day Two has already happened (the highlight of which was meeting Itsjustsomerandomguy from YouTube. More on that to come, with pictures if I can get a new cable for my digital camera--although no pictures of Itsjustsomerandomguy. My batteries had died by then :( ), and I am off for Day Three in a minute (this will be my shopping day, yay!).

And sorry for going back to being AWOL this weekend! I'm not so far behind, so I will attempt catch up on Monday. In any case, I blame NYCC. ;)

Tagged by Arch_schatten

Once you have been tagged, you have to write a blog with 10 random things, facts, goals, or habits about yourself. At the end, choose 10 people to be tagged, listing their names & why you chose them. Don't forget to leave them a comment (you're it!) and to read your blog for instructions. You can't tag a person who has tagged you. Since you can't re-tag me, let me know when you've posted your blog so I can read the answers!

I'm not tagging anyone specific since so many people have already done this meme. If you haven't been tagged for it, though ... YOU'RE IT!

Also, if you've posted something you'd like me to look at (especially if it's something I said I'd get to a frillion years ago and haven't gotten to yet) feel free to take this moment to nudge me about it. I'm trying to do some catch up before falling into oblivion again, but I'm doing a very spotty job of it soo, yes ... nudge meeeeeeeeee. :D

Get me a shrubbery, Lois!

Just a quick note

As it stands, my current plan is to:

1. Not miss my bus to Maryland that leaves in 55 minutes.

2. Finish my taxes while visiting my parents (hopefully with their help ... it's my first time filing the darn things and I'm already procrastinating like a pro .... nooooo, death, argh *splat*).

3. Actually start responding to emails, comments, stuff, etc. when I come back after the weekend. Yay!
