Fanart: Pushing Aside All Doubts

HAPPY BIRTHDAY arch_schatten!!! May this year be your best one yet, and full of wonderful surprises. *huugs*

Back when I had just met you, I once mentioned that your "Things Left Unsaid" series had given me two fanart bunnies. One and a half years later, lol, I finally finished one of them. So here is my birthday offering to you, my dear ferret-clone-sister. :D

Pairing: Bruce/Clark
Rating: PG
Warnings: Slashy implications.
Disclaimer: DC owns 'em, I just mess with 'em.
Media: watercolor
Note: Whee! This is my attempt at illustrating "Through the numbness, Bruce felt a hand card through his hair, and the oxygen mask lingered over his face, never falling into place. He felt Clark’s hesitation and tried to open his eyes, heavy with exhaustion. He saw Clark standing by his side, staring down at him with a serious expression on his face. He was awake enough to know that something important was happening, but not awake enough to figure out what it was.

Clark waited until the sleepy blue eyes closed again, and he lowered his face until their lips were just an inch away from each other. Pushing aside all doubts, he closed the distance between them, kissing the cool, slightly parted lips."

Pushing Aside All Doubts

And as always, everyone feel free to ignore me, because who failed at the flist this week? *raises hand* >_< eep.

...wow. ..uhh.. wow, man. That's prettier than I could ever imagine it! Clark's eyelashes, what's up???? and their eyebrows!!!! And the mask, and the hair, and Bruce is so pale!!! eeeee!! This is so gorgeous, sis! thank you so much, you have made my day with the card and with this!

*swoons* Clark's neck!!! this is just so full of awesome!!! X) Thank you! you rock so much!
17th-May-2008 05:28 am (UTC)
Eee, I'm thrilled you like it, sis! After the fact, I realized I missed on some of the details dangit, Bruce's lips are supposed to be parted! *facepalm* so I'm happy it still works for you. X)

And Clark's eyelashes! LOL! I'm really fond of how they turned out, too. ;p And Bruce! I was afraid the way I'd colored him made him look dead o_O but *whew* pale was exactly what I was going for. :D

Thank you for the wonderful comment! If I brightened your day even a little, then I must have done something right. ^-^ *hugs and runs off to answer your other comment*

Oh, your watercolors are always so delicate and tender, I don't know how you do it. The coloring on Clark's face, capturing the cold lighting of the hospital and transmuting it into beauty, the dark severity of Bruce's eyebrow and the softness of his hair...it's beautiful.

Thank you so much, Jen! I've been feeling lately like I must have broken whatever little watercolor-fu I had, LOL, so your comment has cheered me up quite a lot. :D

And yay, the hospital lighting looks cold! ^-^ I was worried that wouldn't come across as artificial light!

Anyway, thank you again for such a thoughtful comment, Jen. *hugs*

Wow, you do these watercolours so beautifully! I already noticed that on your amazing "In the Sun" pic!
The atmosphere is captured so well, they are full of light, yet give you a convincing impression of 3-dimensionality! I love the perspective too, the angle of Bruce´s head is really a tricky one to do! Great job!

Awww, thank you! *beams* That really means a lot to me coming from you--I am sooo bad at feedback, but I love your work! You are such an amazing artist--I lurk around your page in speechless awe. XD

I love the perspective too, the angle of Bruce´s head is really a tricky one to do!

Yay, I'm glad that worked. I used a reference for that--I fail horribly at drawing things at weird angles from imagination! Even with references, though, perspective oftentimes manages to pwn me anyway. :3

Anyway, thank you again for the lovely comment! I'm so happy you liked this (and "In the Sun" *squee*). :D

Oh, this is pretty, and so sweet! The impressionistic style of the watercolors gives in a romance and delicacy that I don't think any other medium could have conveyed. I haven't read the fanfic this is based on yet, so I'll have to do that right now. Gorgeous!

Oh yay! :D That was exactly what I was trying to go for, so I'm so happy this came across that way to you.

And yes, Breakable should be required S/B reading. X) It is so ... moving and poignant. I hope you do get a chance to check it out!

And thank you for the wonderful comment. *beams*

Oh, wow, that's so gorgeous! *stares*

Again, I am amazed at the different colours you can create - here the differences in Clark and Bruce's skin tones! Bruce looks so pale and worn out, but Clark still has a golden glow. And his costume! Wow. And, I would be utterly remiss if I didn't mention their hair! *wants to touch Clark's curl*

So, yes, extremely pretty, and I am once again amazed at your talents. :) *glomps*

Bruce looks so pale and worn out, but Clark still has a golden glow.

Yay, I'm so happy you picked up on that! That was definitely the effect I wanted with the skin tones. :) And Clark's uniform! I was quite fond of how that turned out, so I'm glad to hear you liked it, too. :D

And thank you for such a wonderful comment! You made my day. :D *glomps back*

That is absolutely gorgeous. I'm amazed at how much you've conveyed here and even moreso at the medium you used. Clark looks like he's in so much quiet pain and Bruce... *cries* The planes of their faces are amazing.

Oh, thank you so much! I'm happy that so much emotion came through. I was really moved by the fic this is based off of, so I'm glad I could get across some of the feelings it evoked for me. :)

Thank you for the lovely comment! I'm jazzed that you liked this. ^-^

(And happy belated graduation, too! :D)

Thank you, Filly! I'm happy to hear you like the colors and shading. And comments can never be unintelligent--they can only be awesome! XD

I don't normally go for watercolor art, but there's something incredibly beautiful about this one. I suck at being intelligent about art, so I'll just have to say that I really, really liked this!
29th-May-2008 08:33 pm (UTC)
Yay! I'm so flattered that you like this, especially since watercolor isn't a medium that usually does anything for you. ^-^

And thank you very much for the wonderful comment! Don't worry about not knowing what to say, either; I just really appreciate you taking the time to stop by. :D

Wow! That's beautiful!

Holy [many obscene words here].

You win. At watercolours. At moods. At capturing a moment. At life.

Wonderful stuff.

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment, and I'm sorry I took so long to get back to you. This made my day!

This is great :D
I really like the coldness, but yet so comforting :)

I really like the coldness, but yet so comforting :)

Yay! I wasn't sure I would be able to capture the hospital-ish atmosphere, so I'm really happy you think that. It's more than I could've hoped to get across. :D

Thank you for the comment! ^-^

Oooooh, I don't know how you create this beauty with water colors! *stares at the art admiringly*
They are so Bruce and Clark. Especially your Bruce is reminds me Bale-Bruce soooo much! Great!
Thanks for sharing for this amazing pic!
4th-Jun-2008 04:12 pm (UTC)
Thank you so much, Rai, and sorry I took so long getting back to you. It means a lot to me that you like this since you are such an amazing artist yourself. :D

Especially your Bruce is reminds me Bale-Bruce soooo much!

Yay! Funnily enough, I actually used a picture of Brandon Routh as a reference for Bruce, and then did a lot of fretting and tweaking afterwards to try to make it not look like Routh. So I'm really happy to hear he actually looks like Bale here! =P

Anyway, thank you again for the wonderful comment! *hugs*

I...guh. What is wrong with me that it took me this long to look at this picture?!

It's so beautiful. I'm amazed at your skill, especially with the clear mask. And all of the tones in their hair and skin... *stares*

So gorgeous!

Thank you again! *beams* I'm especially happy you liked the mask and the different skin and hair tones; I was really hoping I got those right. :)
